Make a quick and flavorful Spicy Honey Garlic Shrimp served over rice. This recipe features shrimp coated in a sticky, sweet, and spicy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp sriracha (or more, to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tsp cold water (slurry)
  • 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rice according to package directions. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, and sriracha. This is your sauce base.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp. Remove vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the shrimp to the same hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce base over the shrimp. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  7. Stir the cornstarch slurry one more time and pour it into the simmering sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens into a sticky glaze, about 30 seconds.
  8. Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the shrimp and vegetables evenly with the glaze.
  9. To assemble the bowls, divide the cooked rice among serving bowls. Top the rice with the glazed shrimp and vegetables.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onion and sesame seeds before serving immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the heat level of your glaze.
  • For extra flavor, use brown rice instead of white rice.
  • You can substitute the broccoli and bell pepper with snap peas or sliced carrots.
