Follow these steps to make a cafe-style iced brown sugar oatmilk latte at home, including a simple recipe for brown sugar syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 shots espresso (about 2 oz) or 4 oz strong cold brew concentrate
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make the brown sugar syrup: Combine the brown sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. Prepare your coffee: Brew two shots of espresso or measure out 4 ounces of strong cold brew concentrate. Let the coffee cool slightly if needed.
  3. Assemble the drink: Add ice cubes to a tall glass.
  4. Pour the cooled brown sugar syrup over the ice. Use 2 to 3 tablespoons of syrup, adjusting to your sweetness preference.
  5. Pour the oat milk over the syrup and ice.
  6. Slowly pour the cooled espresso or cold brew over the top of the oat milk to create a layered effect.
  7. Serve immediately. Stir before drinking to combine the layers.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar in the syrup.
  • If you do not have espresso, use 4 ounces of very strong cold brew concentrate or chilled strong brewed coffee.
  • Barista-style oat milk often froths better, but any plain oat milk works well for this iced drink.
  • Adjust the syrup amount based on how sweet you like your coffee.
