Make this simple, satisfying ham and cheddar quiche using leftover ham. It results in a flaky crust filled with creamy egg custard, smoky ham, and melty cheese, perfect for a holiday morning or easy brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup diced cooked ham
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Sprinkle the diced ham, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped onion evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese filling in the pie crust.
  5. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the quiche cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute Gruyere or Monterey Jack cheese for the cheddar if you prefer a different flavor profile.
  • If you do not have leftover ham, you can use diced deli ham.
  • This savory breakfast pie freezes well once cooled; wrap tightly before freezing.
