Prepare moist, flaky tilapia fillets baked with a rich garlic butter sauce and finished with a bright lemon reduction.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) tilapia fillets
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and dried oregano.
  4. Spoon the garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of each tilapia fillet.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  6. While the fish bakes, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the lemon juice and any remaining butter mixture from the baking sheet. Heat over medium heat until it simmers lightly.
  7. Remove the fish from the oven. Drizzle the warm lemon juice mixture over the fillets.
  8. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving immediately.

Notes

  • To keep the tilapia moist, avoid overcooking; check for doneness at the 12-minute mark.
  • For a pan-seared method, sear the fillets in 2 tablespoons of butter and oil mixture for 3-4 minutes per side, then add the garlic and lemon juice to the pan to create a quick sauce.
  • Asparagus or roasted potatoes pair well with this dish.
