Prepare this quick, one-pan meal featuring tender shrimp and crisp broccoli coated in a rich garlic butter sauce. It cooks fast for a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until bright green and slightly tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the same skillet. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice. Let the sauce simmer for 1 minute, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat the shrimp and broccoli evenly with the garlic butter sauce.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
  • If you prefer softer broccoli, cover the skillet while the broccoli steams slightly before adding the shrimp.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best taste in the sauce.
