Prepare savory, quick pan-fried noodles with crispy edges in just 15 minutes. This recipe uses a simple soy sauce base perfect for a fast weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz dried egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup sliced carrots
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch of white pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions until just tender. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and stir fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the cabbage and carrots to the skillet. Stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
  5. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper to create the sauce.
  7. Pour the sauce over the noodles and vegetables. Toss everything together quickly for 2 minutes, allowing the noodles to absorb the sauce and develop slightly crispy edges.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use fresh noodles if available.
  • You can add cooked protein like shredded chicken or shrimp during step 4.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the noodles; this helps achieve crispy edges.
