Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 pound cooked breakfast sausage, crumbled
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface. Press the seams together to form one large rectangle.
In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and crumbled cooked sausage until combined.
Spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the dough rectangle.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage mixture.
Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 16 equal pieces, about 3/4 inch thick.
Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can use pre-cooked, fully cooked sausage links or bulk sausage for this recipe.
For a make-ahead option, assemble the rolls, slice them, and place them on the baking sheet. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the refrigerator.
These pinwheels freeze well after baking. Cool completely, place in a freezer-safe bag, and freeze for up to three months. Reheat in a 350 degree oven until warmed through.
