Make a quick, comforting, and creamy ground beef pasta dish using just one pan for easy cleanup. This recipe is perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup uncooked pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and add the uncooked pasta to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and cubed cream cheese until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  7. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until fully incorporated.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or ground Italian sausage for the ground beef.
  • For a thicker sauce, let the pasta sit uncovered for 2-3 minutes after adding the cream cheese.
  • Use your favorite short pasta shape, such as shells or farfalle.
