Ingredients
Scale
2 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
1/2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (or to taste)
2 drops green food coloring (liquid or gel)
1 cup heavy whipping cream (for topping)
2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for topping)
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (for topping)
1 drop green food coloring (for topping)
Instructions
Chill your serving glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
Combine the softened vanilla ice cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and 2 drops of green food coloring in a blender.
Blend on low speed initially, then increase to high until the mixture is completely smooth and thick. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed. Do not over-blend, or the shake will become too thin.
While the shake is blending, prepare the mint whipped cream: Pour the heavy whipping cream into a chilled bowl. Add the powdered sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract and 1 drop of green food coloring.
Using an electric mixer or whisk, beat the cream mixture until stiff peaks form.
Pour the milkshake into the chilled glass.
Top the shake generously with the homemade mint whipped cream.
Serve immediately.
Notes
For a thicker shake, use slightly less milk or add a few more scoops of ice cream.
Adjust the amount of peppermint extract based on your preference for mint intensity. Start small.
If you want a deeper green color, add one more drop of food coloring to the shake base, but be careful not to add too much.
