Make a creamy, tangy salad dressing at home that tastes just like the famous Olive Garden Italian Dressing. This recipe uses common ingredients for a quick, accurate copycat flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine the vegetable oil, water, white wine vinegar, white vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a blender.
  2. Blend the mixture on medium speed until it starts to emulsify and become slightly creamy.
  3. Stop the blender and scrape down the sides.
  4. Add the grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Blend again until the dressing is fully combined and smooth. Do not over-blend once the cheese is added.
  6. Taste the dressing and adjust salt or sugar if needed for your preference.
  7. Pour the dressing into an airtight container.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use a blender or immersion blender to properly emulsify the oil and water base.
  • This dressing thickens when cold. If it becomes too thick, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes or whisk in one teaspoon of water before serving.
  • Store this dressing in the refrigerator for up to one week. Shake well before each use.
