You need this Cherry Dump Cake recipe! It is the easiest dessert you can make, requiring no mixing bowl and resulting in a warm, bubbly, buttery treat similar to a cherry cobbler. Perfect for potlucks or weeknight sweets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling layer. Do not mix.
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. If using nuts, sprinkle them over the top layer now.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let the Cherry Dump Cake cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try using a white chocolate or butter pecan cake mix instead of yellow.
  • If you want a richer topping, use brown sugar mixed with the melted butter before pouring.
  • This Simple Cherry Dessert is excellent served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
