Follow these steps to make sweet potato cubes crispy on the outside and soft inside using your air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sweet potatoes: Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into uniform 1-inch cubes. Rinse the cubes under cold water and pat them completely dry with paper towels. Drying them well helps achieve crispiness.
  2. Season the cubes: Place the dried sweet potato cubes in a medium bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it preheat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Load the basket: Place the seasoned sweet potato cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary for best results.
  5. Air fry: Cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Shake the basket vigorously every 5 to 7 minutes to turn the cubes and promote even browning.
  6. Check for doneness: The potatoes are done when they are fork-tender inside and golden brown and crispy outside.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can toss the cubes with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch after oiling them.
  • If you prefer a sweeter flavor, substitute the paprika with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar added after cooking.
  • If using frozen sweet potato cubes, do not thaw them first. Cook at 380°F (195°C) for 18 to 22 minutes, shaking often.
