Ingredients
Scale
4 medium Russet potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Scrub the potatoes well under running water to remove any dirt. Dry them completely with a paper towel; moisture prevents crispy skin.
Prick each potato deeply 6 to 8 times all over using a fork. This allows steam to escape.
Rub the exterior of each potato evenly with olive oil.
In a small bowl, mix the coarse sea salt and black pepper. Sprinkle this mixture generously over the entire surface of each oiled potato.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
Carefully place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 30 to 40 minutes, flipping the potatoes halfway through the cooking time. Cooking time depends on the size of your potatoes.
Check for doneness by piercing the center with a sharp knife or fork; it should slide in easily. The skin should look deeply golden and crisp.
Remove the air fryer baked potatoes from the basket. Slice them open lengthwise immediately and gently fluff the inside with a fork.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings like butter, cheese, sour cream, or chili for a loaded baked potato meal.
Notes
For the crispiest skin, make sure the potatoes are completely dry before oiling and seasoning them.
If you are cooking very large potatoes, you may need to add 5 to 10 minutes to the total cook time.
This quick air fryer side dish is a budget-friendly meal base.
